Questions

How far in advance should I start planning my trip?

Ideal timeline is 9-10 months before departure. This allows you the most selection of accommodations and the lowest pricing. Waiting till a couple months before you want to travel limits your choices and assures you pay a higher price.

Do you charge fees to plan my trip & give me a proposal?

Yes, our non-refundable planning fees start at $500 per trip and go up based on the complexity and length of your trip. This covers our time and resources used to begin planning your trip itinerary. If you are looking for a cheap deal, we are not the right fit, but if you are looking to invest in an amazing life-changing journey, you have come to the right place.

What is included with my trip proposal?

We provide you with a highly detailed day-by-day itinerary that includes flight recommendations, private transfers, accommodations, private tours, excursions, local highlights and pricing presented via Zoom or in person.

How long does it take to plan my trip?

We typically deliver your trip itinerary about 2-3 weeks after we receive your planning fee.

How long do I have to review the proposal before I book my trip?

We recommend booking your trip right away as pricing and availability can change without notice. We do not hold rooms or flights, so if you decide to wait, your proposal could become unavailable.

What are the benefits of having Real World Travel handle my trip?

We have no set departures or cookie-cutter itineraries, and nothing we do is by-the-numbers. We’re a small company who LOVES to travel, all of whom are dedicated to creating unique, exciting and often life-changing adventures for our clients. Our team is consistently discovering (and chatting about) amazing new destinations, hotels, restaurants, people and communities. There’s nothing we love more than sharing this passion, love and knowledge. Just look at the scuff marks on our luggage! We are experts because we are travelers.

Who do you work with to plan my trip?

We have partnered with Local Destination Management Companies (Travel Experts) all over the world who know their destination inside and out. Some of them have lived there. Some were born there. Others have traveled or worked there. Put it this way, when we’re planning trips of our own, our Travel Experts are the first people we talk to. They’re passionate, intense, and up to date!

Is it cheaper booking through Real World Travel than doing it myself?

Custom-built travel isn’t cheap – it’s true. But there are some very good reasons for this. Like tailors of haute couture outfits, we hand-make each trip we sell based on years of insight, knowledge and experience. Nothing we do is off-the-shelf, meaning we put lots of care into fine-tuning your itinerary to make sure it fits you perfectly. We draw on friendships, agreements, and relationships with local contacts and partners to ensure we can do things differently – always elevated, and never ordinary. No two Real World Travel trips are ever the same. Our higher premium reflects all the added ideas, expertise and energy that goes into your itinerary, logistical expertise, insider insight, and all the management and details. We really love travel and take huge pride in giving you the best and most seamless experience of your life. In other words: it’s really, really worth it.

Do I need Travel Insurance?

We highly recommend you buy a travel insurance policy to cover your trip. As the day of your departure approaches, we want to help you be prepared for unexpected travel problems you may encounter on the way so you can make the most of your journey. We can provide price quotes from Travel Insurance Providers upon request.
